Marcos Interpreting was founded in 1996 and has been under its current
ownership since January 1, 2009. San
Marcos Interpreting is headquartered in San Marcos, Texas but provides service
in all surrounding counties as needed. We are currently serving customers from
Georgetown to San Antonio and Marble Falls to Giddings. Our office is open Monday – Friday
8:00am-5:00pm. However, we are
accessible and service is available 24 hours a day / 7 days per week. San
Marcos Interpreting is committed to providing high quality interpreting and
impeccable customer service while maintaining the lowest service rates in the
area. We believe in fair, honest and
ethical business practices that foster positive community relationships and
partnerships. San Marcos Interpreting
strives to support our local community by giving back as much as we can. We proudly sponsor local schools, clubs and
organizations. San Marcos Interpreting employs a full-time
scheduler and contracts with well over 50 state and/or nationally certified interpreters
who are highly skilled and excellently trained in their field.
San Marcos Interpreting is owned and operated by Cheryl K. Bailey. Cheryl is a native Texan and has lived in San Marcos since 1983. Cheryl is a graduate of San Marcos Baptist Academy and Texas State University. Cheryl obtained her Master's degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from the University of Texas at Austin. Cheryl became the owner of San Marcos Interpreting in 2009. Prior to that, she worked for 9 years for the Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) as a College & University Coordinator and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor. Cheryl has also worked as a Transition Specialist at the New Mexico School for the Deaf. Cheryl is a BEI certified interpreter.
Cheryl's husband, Jesse J. Bailey, is a graduate of the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, Connecticut and Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. Jesse obtained his Master's degree in Deaf Education from McDaniel College. Jesse is employed at the Texas School for the Deaf where he works as the Athletics Coordinator/Director for Elementary and Middle School Programs. Jesse is also a certified basketball referee. He enjoys officiating high school and college/university games.
Cheryl and Jesse have two children, Bella and Ashton.
Mary Brand is our full time Coordinator and Interpreter. Mary assists customers and interpreters with service coordination and scheduling when she is not in the field on assignment.
Mary has been interpreting for 30 years. She has worked in North Carolina, Guam California and Texas in a variety of settings. Mary is currently certified by the State of Texas Board for the Evaluation of Interpreters.
